Trace, Freeze, Recover: Challenges and Practical Tips for Enforcing Arbitral Awards in Greece and Beyond

Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 12:30

Academias Hotel, Autograph Collection (Athens)

“Asset tracing and preservation is often the most vital (yet overlooked) part of any cross-border arbitration or litigation. If assets are not found and secured before they disappear, a hard-won award may turn out to be little more than a thankless gift. Εven when assets have been located and provisionally attached, legal challenges can still arise at the enforcement stage. These challenges are familiar not only in Greece but also in major asset-holding jurisdictions such as the UAE, Switzerland, and Cyprus. Set in the heart of Athens, and accompanied by good food and better company, this brunch session brings together practitioners experienced in asset tracing and enforcement to share practical insights, under the aegis of Swiss Arbitration. Together, they will explore how these difficulties emerge in their respective jurisdictions and offer hands-on tips for tracing, freezing, and recovering assets. The goal? To wake everyone up (not just with coffee!) to the realities of enforcement, and to exchange ideas on how these challenges can be better managed in practice”.
